Run for a Reason

Crossing the finish line brings with it a sense of well-deserved accomplishment for your hard work.  However, joining The Scenic Half’s Race for a Reason program offers you the chance to cross the finish line knowing that your participation offers help and hope to the many people who benefit from the charities in our program.

If you wish to support a charity, you may do so through Active.com.  You will need to first register through their website and then choose a charity from the official event list.

Remember to solicit support from your friends and family.  Asking them to pledge a specific dollar amount for every mile or kilometer you run is an excellent way to not only maximize their donations but also inspire you on the course!

Please contact us with any questions or comments at: scenichalf@sandpointchamber.com

Thank you for making a difference!

24 Hours for Hank

24 Hours for Hank is 501c3 nonprofit set up by friends and family of Henry Sturgis.  Their hope is to find a cure for Henry and all children that suffer from Cystinosis.  Because Cystinosis is considered an "orphan disease," all research funds are generated by the private sector.  They are proud to be in partnership with Cystinosis Research Foundation.  Thanks to their hard work, funds have already been raised through private individuals and businesses to start research for better medication and hopefully a cure.  Thanks to CRF, just this year a slow release formula of the powerful drug that helps children was developed, changing the daily dosage to only twice a day, and they hope it will be approved by the FDA by 2010 so Henry can start using it.  24 Hours for Hank with your help will support the CRF to fund the researchers and doctors that hold Henry's future.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.  The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

Since its inception in 1988, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program (TNT), has prepared more than 390,000 people - approximately 40,000 participants annually - to achieve their dream of completing a marathon, half marathon, triathalon, 100-mile (century) bicycle ride or hike adventure.  And, in that time, TNT participants have raised over $950 million to support blood cancer research and patient services.  The enormous success of this program has helped make possible advances in blood cancer therapies and treatments that have prolonged and enhnaced the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients.  GO TEAM!
