Half Marathon Information

 

Date: Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Time: 8:45 a.m.

Location: Pre- and post-race activities will be held at Sandpoint City Beach.

Course

• Start at City Beach in Sandpoint and run across Bridge Street. 
• Turn left on 1st Avenue and continue on bike path. 
• Cross the Long Bridge and continue to Sagle Road. 
• Turn left to Sagle Elementary School. 
• Return on same path back to Sandpoint City Beach.

Food and Drink

Water/sports drink stations will be provided approximately every mile.  Fruit will be provided on the out-and-back course. 

Light food and beverages will be provided to participants after the race.  Food and drink not consumed will be donated to the Bonner County Food Bank.

Runner Awards

All registered half marathon participants will receive a technical “competitor” tee shirt at packet pickup.  All official half marathon finishers will also receive a finisher medal at the finish line.

The half marathon will award certificates and plaques to the top three chip time finishers within each gender age group.  The certificates will be presented at the awards ceremony after the race.  The plaques will be mailed approximately three weeks after the race.

The age categories for both male and female participants are as follows:

under 15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75+

Free massages will be provided at the finish line based on availability.

All registered half marathon participants will also receive a “goodie bag” at packet pickup on the 19th and 20th.

The half marathon is a timed event.  Participants will receive their timing chips at packet pickup on Saturday, September 19th or before 8:00 a.m. the morning of Sunday, September 20th.  There is a $100 fee for timing chips not returned.

Refunds

Registrations are nonrefundable, nontransferable, and nondeferable after midnight, August 19th, 2009.  Registrations are 100% refundable until midnight on August 19th.

Course Time Limit

The time limit is approximately four hours for the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K Fun Run/Walk.  The course will close on a rolling schedule, with the finish line closing at 1:00 p.m.

Clothing Donation

Boxes will be located at the starting line for sweat pants and sweat shirt donations.  All articles of clothing placed in these boxes will be donated to our local area Goodwill.

Baggage Check

There will be a baggage check near the starting line.  Participants will be provided a small plastic bag in which to place their belongings.  Checked bags will be marked with the participants’ bib number and stored for retrieval after the race.  All checked baggage must be retrieved by 3:00 p.m.

Dogs

The City of Sandpoint has a rule against dogs in city parks.  Therefore, all dogs are strictly banned from the event, including the pre- and post-race activities.

Headphones

Runners will not be allowed to wear headphones or ear pieces on the course.
