- Athlete registration and race packet pick-up
- Half Marathon finisher medal and T-shirt distribution
- Stocking and selling souvenirs
- Media liaison
- Traffic and spectator management
- Course set up and tear down
- Start/finish line
- Water, sports drink, and snack stations along the course
- Course entertainment, especially bands and cheer squads
- Medical services stations and roaming medical teams
- Radio communication specialists/observers
- Massages at the finish
- Providing cell phones for runners at the finish
- Staffing message boards, bib numbers, lost and found, and medical notices
